Why do we have to take notice dailiness? This discussion starts with the question: Though there have been social contradictions, why haven't the contradictions brought social changes? Once I had a conviction that politic-economic change would bring fundamental changes in our lives. So did not only the very author of the dictatorship of the development but the people who resisted to that and the masses attracted by both of the powers. I don't intend to say that it was wrong. I'd like only mention that we have been remiss in the dailiness which is one of institutional-cultural elements prescribing human life. It is easy to pass over daily life showed repeatedly and triflingly, but the dailiness includes the key that can explain all our existential appearance and behavior. Because all the histories and events never happen without the background of daily life.

Our daily life appears the same thing as yesterday, but according to flowing times today's life is not yesterday's one though it contains yesterday. It is because life is neither fixed nor constant, but it has a organic continuity which is changing constantly.

What does the dailiness mean to our contemporaries? It can be called as unconscious behaviors in broken situations.  Then, What shall we take up in the sea of sign called daily life? It is necessary that we take notice the power the dailiness has. This kind of approach to cities and daily life attempted through Minjung Fine art in 1980s and since 1990s the interest in kitsch and mass culture was expressed. However these attempts were far from dailiness because of the view point, "criticism against the realities filled with contradictions" and "the shock of fake experience" and also the approaches to mass culture look on not their own lives but  nostalgia for past through a glimpse. It is noticeable that latest exhibitions show the natural artistic statements of daily life and accidental observations on the original nature of our lives. Perhaps we might have tried to avert the fact that  the daily scene surrounding us evoke much more complicated and various feelings than the historical events in books.

Many artists since 1990s have been trying to answer their surroundings. Also there have been repeated efforts to go over the border between mass culture and higher art. The concept of daily life, however, remains non-theorization in contemporary art discourse relatively. In fact the relationship between art and life is neither simple nor clear. So the artists' inquiries about dailiness are rather humanistic than spiritual, rather empirical than ideal and rather philosophical than ideological. The analysis and criticism of dailiness through everyday life is not something for  accepting daily life but something for changing that. The revolution have to change 'daily life' colonized by capitalism

The dailiness(episode) contains forgetfulness and awakening, or control mechanism. How much do we think over the systems, values, morals so on which we follow as a member of a society without any question? It sometimes appears as a forgetfulness because of its external form, on the other hand it has a role of awakening and adjustment because it can't escape from social rules. And both of two sides co-exist in daily life. Chaos and alienation are our own portraits and may be daily life itself.
